Macromer, Lebedev Scientific Manufacturing Company, develops and produces film-forming materials and small additives for water-dispersible and organically diluted paints and varnishes. The company’s team will present new products and hits of the main assortment at its stand in the Forum pavilion at the Interlakokraska 2024 exhibition.

Macromer, Lebedev Scientific Manufacturing Company, produces a wide range of products including active thinners for epoxy resins and epoxy resins, polyol raw materials for polyurethanes (simple and complex polyesters, polymer polyols, polyacrylate polyols), polyurethane pre-polymers and polyurethane dispersions, UV-curable polyurethane acrylate and epoxyacrylate oligomers, polycarboxylate dispersants, as well as adhesives, defoamers, scale inhibitors, etc.

In 2022, the company actively started to move towards import substitution in terms of strategic production development. For example, industrial production of polyurethane oligomers with end alkoxysilane groups (STP-polymers), which are so-called hybrid materials, where organic and inorganic phases are linked.

Production of this product is traditional for Japan and is rapidly beginning to develop in Europe and the USA. Until now, there has been no production of this product in Russia, and foreign deliveries have been discontinued. The binders produced by Macromer are analogues of imported products of Geniosil STP and Desmoseal SXP series.

The inorganic silicone phase makes it possible to obtain cured material without bubbles, increased resistance to UV radiation, water, acids and alkalis, high temperatures. In addition, these products are environmentally friendly, as they do not contain toxic isocyanate groups and solvents.

This material is used for production of sealants for various purposes, vibration-resistant and contact adhesives, waterproofing and anticorrosion coatings, etc.

In 2023, the company brought new brands of dispersants to the market.

- Macromer D-190 has wetting and dispersing action, does not contain organic solvents, recommended for aqueous systems, including epoxy and polyurethane. An analogue of imported DISPERBYK®-190 dispersant.

- Macrometer D-191 is a universal dispersant, works in aqueous and organically diluted systems. An analogue of imported DISPERBYK®-191 dispersant.

- Macromer SP-8 is an aqueous solution of copolymer based on polyolefins and carboxylates, suitable for various aqueous systems: pigment pastes, paintwork materials and adhesives; it is universal with respect to pigments, in particular, it can be used for dispersing technical carbon (carbon black). The peculiarity of this type of dispersants is that they provide strong adsorption or fixation on the surface of pigments and fillers, have longer molecular chains forming steric hindrances, and are water-soluble at the ends of the chains, i.e. complemented by electrostatic repulsion.

Macromer SP-8 dispersant is a highly efficient dispersant of electrostatic action, i.e. it combines simultaneously electrostatic and steric factors. It can be used in a wide variety of paint formulations, including primers, interior and facade matt, glossy and semi-glossy paints based on acrylic, butadiene-styrene and vinyl-acrylic binders.

As part of the import substitution policy, the company has developed a system of UV-curable coatings to protect optical fibres: Acrolat OVP-1, an internal damping (primary) coating, and Acrolat OVP-2, an external protective and strengthening (secondary) coating). Acrylate-based compositions are fast curing, suitable for wet-on-wet or wet-on-dry application processes, provide resistance of optical fibres to bending and environmental influences, reducing spectral losses during signal transmission.

The serial production of new polyurethane dispersion Akvapol 15 based on aliphatic isocyanate was launched. Coatings based on this product are characterised by high consumer properties (tensile strength 25-35 MPa, elongation 900-1,200%, water absorption <10%, high adhesion to various materials).

The company is working on the development of a new product line: aqueous UV-curable PU dispersions. UV irradiation for several seconds of the film formed after water evaporation provides formation of an additional polymer mesh, which allows to significantly improve physical and mechanical properties and chemical resistance of coatings.

We invite you to get acquainted with new products from Macromer at stand FB050 in the Forum pavilion!
